Studio / How We Work
Process

Five stages, one fixed fee each

Design goes wrong when nobody knows what happens next. Our process is a fixed sequence: each stage has a deliverable you can hold, a fee quoted in advance, and a decision point before the next one begins.

Timeline

Six to ten weeks, typically

Single rooms run faster; whole-home and full exterior concepts run longer. We put dates on the scope before you sign it.

Week 0 · free consultation

Walk-through, listen, measure

We come to your home for about ninety minutes. You tell us what does not work and what you want the space to do; we measure, photograph and note what the house allows. Within three days you receive a written scope with fixed fees per stage. No charge for this visit within 25 miles of the studio.

Weeks 1–2 · layout

Two or three plans to scale

Furniture, circulation, storage, sightlines — drawn accurately so decisions are real. One revision round. This is the stage new clients get free in September.

Weeks 3–5 · concept

Renderings and materials

The chosen layout becomes 3D renderings of the key views, a material and lighting board with sources and prices, and a first budget range from our trade partners so the design fits the money before the drawings are made.

Weeks 6–8 · drawings

Everything a contractor needs

Dimensioned plans, elevations, sections where needed, electrical and lighting plans, millwork and tile details, and a specification list. Sufficient for village permits and for competitive bids.

Build · optional

Site support

We visit at key stages (rough-in, before drywall, before finishes), answer contractor questions the same day, and manage substitutions when a product is back-ordered. Hourly or a fixed monthly retainer.
